Solar Wind
The stream of charged particles flowing from the sun, measured before it reaches Earth
Density
How much material the solar wind carries. Denser wind hits Earth's magnetic field harder.
Speed
How fast the solar wind is travelling. Around 400 km/s is normal; above 600 is fast.
Temperature
How hot the solar wind is. It jumps when a solar storm arrives.
IMF Bz
Which way the solar wind's magnetic field points. Negative (south) lets energy in and feeds the aurora.
IMF Bt
Overall strength of the solar wind's magnetic field. Stronger means more potential for a storm.
