Terms of use
GalaxOS collects public space weather data in one place and explains it. Here is what that means for you.
Last updated October 11, 2026
What GalaxOS is
GalaxOS gathers space weather data that other organizations publish, mostly NOAA and NASA, and shows it in a way that is easier to read. It also sends optional email and Telegram alerts when conditions look good for seeing the aurora. It is free to use.
GalaxOS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for NOAA, NASA, ESA or any other agency whose data it shows. A full list of sources is on the data sources page.
The data can be wrong
We fetch the data as it is published and do our best to combine and explain it. We do not produce it, check it, or control it. Any part of what you see can be delayed, incomplete, out of date, mislabeled, or simply wrong, because of a problem at the source, a problem with our code, or a problem in between.
Forecasts are forecasts. An aurora alert means the numbers looked promising, not that you will see anything. Local weather, clouds, light pollution and plain luck matter as much as the space weather.
Not for operational use
GalaxOS is an information service, not an operational or safety one. If you are making decisions where a wrong or late number has real consequences, such as flying, running infrastructure, or radio operations, use the official NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center or your national equivalent.
No warranty, no liability
GalaxOS is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted access. The site may change or be unavailable at any time.
To the fullest extent the law allows, GalaxOS and the people behind it are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind that comes from using the site or its alerts, or from being unable to use them.
Alerts
Email and Telegram alerts are a convenience. They can be late, missing, or sent when nothing turns out to be visible. Every email has a one click unsubscribe link, and you can leave the Telegram channel at any time.
Using the site
You are welcome to read, share and link to GalaxOS. Please do not scrape it at a rate that slows it down for others, try to break into it, or present its output as official. The underlying data belongs to its publishers and is subject to their terms. The writing, design and code of GalaxOS belong to GalaxOS unless marked otherwise.
Changes
These terms may change as the site changes. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.
